Pittsburgh, PA – KTA-Tator (KTA) has acquired a 17.65-acre parcel at RIDC Park West, Enterprise Drive, for $1,025,000. KTA is already located at RIDC Park West, having acquired its current location at 115 Technology Drive in 1981. That facility began as a 12,000 square foot building in 1981 but received a 21,500 square foot addition in 1992 to support growth of the company. Presently, the Technology Drive location is 33,500 square feet with KTA leasing an additional 2,500 square foot space from a neighboring building.
As KTA continues to add service offerings, expand nationwide operations, and increase number of employees, the demand for a larger building became imminent. The company forecasts continuation of the steady growth it has seen in the past decade.
“The primary purpose of the new location is to facilitate more efficient work flow and allow for expansion of both staff, R&D, and testing facilities. The facility will house metalworking operation, material testing facilities, analytical laboratories, training facilities, instrument sales and service facilities, and office operations for corporate services and all five business units. We foresee adding 20 or more new staff over the next few years,” says KTA Chief Executive Officer, Dan Adley. KTA currently employs 103 in Pittsburgh, and 287 nationwide.
RIDC Park West is ideally situated with multiple access points to I-376 and proximity to the airport, downtown, hotels and restaurants. “Remaining in RIDC Park West is an ideal situation for our employees as well as our training clients. Having a great new work environment in a beautiful, convenient business park setting, without any impacts to daily commutes made this a great fit,” says Adley.
Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) represented KTA in the transaction as broker and real estate advisor. JLL’s Executive Vice President, Rick O’Brien said: “KTA invested significant time and effort to evaluate all suitable options, adhering to their core value of Quality Management. The team selected a development site that will enable KTA to construct a facility that will serve as a platform for their continued success. The JLL team continues to be impressed with the quality of the KTA people and their process.”
Bear Construction and Cannon Design completed preliminary design and feasibility work. They have been retained as the design-build team for the project.
KTA expects site development work for the new state-of-the-art 48,000 square foot building to begin in June 2019 with a move-in date in November 2020.
