Miscellaneous Coatings Testing
Do you need Miscellaneous Coatings Testing?
KTA’s laboratories conduct a multitude of routine analyses and miscellaneous coatings testing including appearance tests (color difference, gloss retention, hiding and contrast ratio), wet tests (density, solids content by weight and volume, pigment content, fineness of grind, flash point and package stability), physical properties testing (chemical spot testing, hardness, resistance to chipping and scrub resistance) and free film testing (water vapor transmittance and tensile, compressive and flexural properties). Physical Testing Laboratory
Analytical tests include Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy for fingerprint analysis of coatings, gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy for solvent and blister liquid analysis, high performance liquid chromatography for analysis of resins and additives, ion chromatography for analysis of blister liquids, differential scanning calorimetry for zinc content and glass transition temperature analysis, digital microscopy for cross-sectional and surface examination, Scanning Electron Microscopy for surface examination and analysis, and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy for performance evaluations of protective coatings. Forensic Coating Failure Investigations
KTA’s physical laboratory conducts Accelerated Weathering and Corrosion Testing and also offers slip resistance testing of walking/working surfaces, dry fall coating evaluation using a specially designed 18 foot vertical drop enclosure, and independent evaluation of surface preparation equipment performance.
