SSPC QP-6 – Thermal Spray (Metallizing) for Corrosion Protection of Steel and Concrete Structures

The Society for Protective Coatings Painting Contractor Certification Program Qualification Procedure No. 6 (QP-6), “Standard Procedure for Evaluating the Qualifications of Contractors Who Apply Thermal Spray (Metallizing) for Corrosion Protection of Steel and Concrete Structures” requires that contractors have a written quality control manual.  KTA has developed a Quality Control Manual for metallizing, written by an SSPC Certified Protective Coating Specialist with over 35 years of experience in the coatings industry, that meets the requirements of the most recent version of the QP-6 certification standard.  The manual assists Contractors in demonstrating that they have adequate management procedures in place, and the technical capability to properly conduct metallizing work.  Contractors must also be able to demonstrate successful implementation of a program to control the quality of thermal spray work.  To assist in this effort, the KTA Quality Control Program contains appendices that provide general quality control inspection procedures, as well as instruction on the proper calibration, accuracy verification and use of coating inspection instrumentation and visual guides.
