Ken Trimber KTA-TatorKenneth A. Trimber  is the President of KTA-Tator, Inc. and is directly responsible for the overall operation, performance, and success of the company.  Mr. Trimber has been employed by KTA since 1968, where he worked on a part-time basis until his graduation from college in December of 1974.  After graduation, he joined the firm full time.  Mr. Trimber serves as a senior consultant and client liaison on many multi-disciplinary projects as well as a principal specification writer/reviewer. Mr. Trimber is a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3 (Peer Review) (#362), is an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist (#339-244-0635).  He has more than 35 years of experience in the industrial painting field, is a Past President of the SSPC, Chairman of the Committee on Surface Preparation, Chairman of the Visual Standards Committee, and Chairman of the Task Group on Containment.  He is also Past Chairman of ASTM D1 on Paints and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications.  Mr. Trimber authored The Industrial Lead Paint Removal Handbook and co-authored Volume 2 of the Handbook: Project Design.  He has been formally recognized by industry associations/publications on numerous occasions including being named Coatings’ Specialist of the Decade at the SSPC National Conference in 1990 and being selected by the JPCL in 2009 as one of 25 Top Leaders and Thinkers in the Coatings & Linings Industry for the past 25 years.

BCorbett3William D. Corbett is the Vice President and Professional Services Group Manager for KTA-Tator, Inc. He holds an A.D. in Business Administration from Robert Morris University and has been employed by KTA for over 33 years. Mr. Corbett is an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist, an SSPC Level 3 Certified Protective Coatings Inspector, an SSPC Level 2 Certified Bridge Coatings Inspector and a NACE International Level 3 Certified Coatings Inspector. He was the co-recipient of the SSPC 1992 Outstanding Publication Award, co-recipient of the 2001 JPCL Editor’s Award, received SSPC’s Coatings Education Award in 2006, and the SSPC 2011 John D. Keane Award of Merit. He is the author of the first, second and third editions of the KTA publication, Using Coatings Inspection Instruments. He also authored Chapter 8 of the SSPC Inspection of Coatings and Linings Handbook and co-authored Chapter 6, “Inspection” of the Steel Structures Painting Manual, Volume 1, Good Painting Practice. Mr. Corbett is a member of the ASTM International and SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings, where he is Chair of the Education Committee and the Dry Film Thickness Committee.

RHuntleyRick Huntley is the Technical Manager of Consulting Services and a Senior Coatings Consultant for KTA where he has been employed for over 20 years. He is a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3 (Peer Review) and an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist. In his current position, Rick is responsible for managing a staff of coating consultants which involves technical review of proposals/reports and project management. He also performs consulting activities that include coating failure analysis, coating condition assessments, coating system recommendations and specification preparation review, and expert witness testimony.

KBrownKevin Brown is the Manager of the Commercial Services Group for KTA.  In this position, Kevin develops and implements maintenance programs for commercial clients nationwide who are experiencing architectural/commercial problems related to paint failures.  He has over 12 years of experience in the field of retail facility management overseeing building maintenance and preventative maintenance programs for over 1,700 stores including store repaints, floor coating replacements, and long-range budget planning.

JMachenJim Machen is a Senior Coatings Consultant with KTA where he has been employed for over 20 years. He is a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3 (Peer Review), an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist, and is a Level II Inspector in accordance with in accordance with ASTM D4537. In his current position, Jim performs consulting activities (i.e., coating failure analysis, coating system recommendations, specification preparation, and major project management) for a variety of clients in the transportation, water and waste, power generation, chemical processing, and marine industries.

JHelselJay Helsel is a Senior Coatings Consultant with KTA where he has been employed for over 10 years. He is a registered Professional Engineer in numerous states, and he is also a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3 (Peer Review). Jay has extensive marine and shipboard experience having served 11 years in the Coast Guard, most recently as a Lieutenant Commander in the area of Marine Vessel Inspection. At KTA, he has managed the field investigations and laboratory analyses of coating failure cases, including those of a major automobile manufacturer and luxury home developer.

 

Ambient Air Monitoring SpecialistDan O’Malley is the Manager of the EH&S Group for KTA where he has been employed for over 19 years.  In this position, Dan serves EH&S clients (while also assisting other KTA groups on multi-disciplinary projects) by reviewing/developing safety and health programs, facilitating/evaluating laboratory results, preparing proposals, developing specifications for removal of coatings containing lead and other toxic metals, performing ambient air monitoring activities (i.e., site evaluation), scheduling staff and consulting on industrial hygiene and safety issues.  Dan is an SSPC C-3 Supervisor/Competent Person for Industrial Deleading Projects and is a licensed instructor for this course.

RBurgessRich Burgess is a Senior Consultant for KTA where he has been employed for over 18 years. Rich is a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3 (Peer Review), an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist, an SSPC C-3 Supervisor/Competent Person for Deleading of Industrial Structures, is a principal instructor for the SSPC C-1, C-3, and C-5 courses, and is an approved instructor for the NACE CIP Program. He also serves as an instructor for a variety of KTA-offered training seminars.
