KTA Bridge and Highway Services
Typical bridge and highway services include coating condition assessments, paint failure investigations, painting specifications, painting inspection, steel fabrication inspection, construction safety, paint laboratory testing, coatings training.
Major portions of transportation agency budgets deal with bridges. Protection of these investments and the traveling public starts in the pre-design phase, progresses through shop fabrication and field erection, through anniversary inspections and required maintenance. Throughout this life cycle, issues of maintenance of traffic, public involvement, structural integrity, and regulatory compliance place heightened demands on staff, especially in areas of specialized knowledge or high time commitments.
KTA’s staff of certified protective coatings specialists, professional engineers, coatings and environmental consultants, certified industrial hygienists and safety professionals, chemists, and certified coatings and steel inspectors team to meet bridge owner needs. Our design services include coating failure investigations, coating system testing and selection, specification preparation or review, and maintenance painting surveys and planning. Our construction phase services include submittal review, independent quality assurance of steel (non-destructive testing, certified welding inspection) and precast/prestressed concrete fabrication, hold-point QA coatings inspection, concrete sampling and testing, traffic marking testing, and project feasibility reviews. Additional services include coatings and environmental training and expert witness testimony.
