William D. Corbett – Chief Operations Officer

William D. Corbett is the Chief Operations Officer for KTA-Tator, Inc. He holds an A.D. in Business Administration from Robert Morris University and has been employed by KTA for over 33 years. Mr. Corbett is an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist, an SSPC Level 3 Certified Protective Coatings Inspector, an SSPC Level 2 Certified Bridge Coatings Inspector and a NACE International Level 3 Certified Coatings Inspector. He was the co-recipient of the SSPC 1992 Outstanding Publication Award, co-recipient of the 2001 JPCL Editor’s Award, received SSPC’s Coatings Education Award in 2006, and the SSPC 2011 John D. Keane Award of Merit. He is the author of the first, second and third editions of the KTA publication, Using Coatings Inspection Instruments. He also authored Chapter 8 of the SSPC Inspection of Coatings and Linings Handbook and co-authored Chapter 6, “Inspection” of the Steel Structures Painting Manual, Volume 1, Good Painting Practice. Jayson L. Helsel, P.E. – Senior Consultant

Jay Helsel is a Senior Coatings Consultant with KTA where he has been employed for over 10 years. He is a registered Professional Engineer in numerous states, and he is also a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3 (Peer Review). Jay has extensive marine and shipboard experience having served 11 years in the Coast Guard, most recently as a Lieutenant Commander in the area of Marine Vessel Inspection. At KTA, he has managed the field investigations and laboratory analyses of coating failure cases, including those of a major automobile manufacturer and luxury home developer. Jay has also been involved with coating condition assessments, inspections of industrial structures, and contractor painting submittal reviews. He serves as a principal instructor for a variety of KTA-offered training courses and has authored numerous technical articles in industry publications. Jay holds a B.S. in Applied Science (with High Honors) and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering. | Contact Me

Rick A. Huntley – Manager of Consulting Services

Rick Huntley is the Manager of Consulting Services and a Senior Coatings Consultant for KTA where he has been employed for over 20 years. He is a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3 (Peer Review) and an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist. In his current position, Rick is responsible for managing a staff of coating consultants which involves technical review of proposals/reports, project management, and budget analysis. He also performs consulting activities that include coating failure analysis, coating condition assessments, coating system recommendations and specification preparation, and research project management. Rick has consulted on major marine coating projects, bridge coating projects, condominium and housing project rehabilitations, and parking garage renovations. He has also conducted coating specification review for highway departments, water districts, A&E firms, and various manufacturers. He is a primary instructor for various KTA training courses and holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University. | Contact Me

 

Charita Bush – Corporate Training Manager

Charita Bush is the Corporate Training Manager for KTA where she has been employed since September 2013.  In this role, she interacts with our business unit and corporate services management in the assessment, coordination, preparation and execution of all internal training initiatives.  She specifically determines training needs, and develops and delivers internal customized interactive web-based and classroom learning to fully realize the potential of our co-owners.  Additionally, Charita is a certified NCCER Administrator representing KTA as an Accredited Assessment Center.  Charita has over 10 yrs experience in managing people and projects; specializing in coaching and development.  She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. | Contact Me

Daniel A. O’Malley – Manager-Environmental Health & Safety Group

Dan O’Malley is the Manager of the EH&S Group for KTA where he has been employed for over 16 years. In this position, Dan serves EH&S clients (while also assisting other KTA departments on multi-disciplinary projects) by reviewing/developing safety and health programs, facilitating/evaluating laboratory results, preparing proposals, developing specifications for removal of coatings containing lead and other toxic metals, performing ambient monitoring activities (i.e., site evaluation), scheduling staff and consulting on industrial hygiene and safety issues. Dan is an SSPC C-3 Supervisor/Competent Person for Industrial Deleading Projects and has 10 hours of OSHA Construction Hazard Awareness Training. He has conducted air quality monitoring for lead, asbestos, and other hazardous materials, has served as on-site industrial hygienist on lead paint removal projects, and serves as an instructor for a variety of KTA-offered training seminars. An experienced Industrial Hygienist, Dan has also conducted industrial hygiene surveys for insurance companies and waste treatment, industrial and manufacturing facilities. Douglas J. Reardon – Steel Group Operations Manager

Doug Reardon is the Steel Group Operations Manager for KTA where he has been employed for over 25 years. In this position, Doug serves as a Senior Project Manager for structural steel fabrication projects for various transportation clients nationwide in addition to assisting the field inspection staff with technical report reviews, scheduling, and project updates/status reports. He is an AWS Certified Welding Inspector; NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3 (Peer Review), a Level II inspector in accordance with ASTM D4537, and is an AWS Certified RT Film Interpreter. Prior to his current assignment, he was a KTA Project Management Specialist and for 13 years, provided construction supervision and paint/insulation services to Bayer Corporation at its New Martinsville, West Virginia plant. Doug serves as a principal instructor for a variety of KTA-offered training seminars, and he has successfully completed numerous industry-related courses. | Contact Me

 

Prior to joining KTA, Mr. Peightal served as a Safety Professional in heavy civil construction, wastewater treatment, natural gas processing, and welding/fabrication facilities where he developed safety and health programs, developed and conducted training programs, identified workplace safety hazards through job safety analyses, conducted safety audits, performed investigations, root cause analysis, and provided methods of mitigation as warranted. He also previously served as a Regional Safety Manager in the Commercial Construction Industry. In this position, he managed 11 division-level safety programs, managed the workers’ compensation program, and monitored the safety committee’s progress in addition to other responsibilities. | Contact Me

Valerie D. Sherbondy – Senior Chemist

Valerie Sherbondy is a Senior Chemist for KTA where she has been employed for 20 years. She is an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist and has worked on hundreds of coating failure analysis projects in addition to conducting and supervising numerous product testing programs. Val routinely provides technical support to the KTA Pittsburgh consulting staff, as well as to all of the region offices. She also serves as the Laboratory Quality Assurance Officer, overseeing the A2LA and NELEC accreditations of the laboratory. Val is a member of the American Chemical Society, the SSPC: Society for Protective Coatings, and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). She is also a committee chair for NACE International and an instructor for a variety of KTA-offered training seminars. Val is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Chemistry and Business and a member of KTA’s Employee Recognition and HealthierYou Wellness committees. | Contact Me
