Salary and Benefits
KTA-Tator, Inc. offers its employees a total compensation package that includes competitive pay and the benefits listed below. Healthier You! Wellness Program
KTA encourages employees and their families to live healthy lifestyles. We offer wellness activities throughout the year such as weight loss programs, walking programs, 5Ks, employee challenges, and much more. Additional programs are available through our health insurance provider. Employees who participate in our health insurance and the wellness activities are rewarded with token prizes and discounts.
KTA offers health insurance from Cigna. Employees are eligible the first day of the month following full-time hire. Coverage is available for employee only, employee and child(ren), couple, and family. KTA pays a defined contribution ranging between 52% and 76% of the premium. For new employees, the company rewards employees for their length of service with health premium discounts after 5 and 10 years of employment.
Five plans are offered using a private exchange which includes regular PPO plans and 2 high deductible plans.
Employees are eligible for Delta Dental Insurance the first day of the month following 90 days of full-time service. 2 levels of coverage are available for employees and their families. KTA pays between 60% and 67% of the premium. Employees with 10 or more years of service receive free dental insurance.
Voluntary VSP Vision
KTA offers Vision Care insurance on the first of the month following the date of hire. Coverage is available for employee only, employee and one dependent (child, spouse or domestic partner), and family. This is a voluntary benefit and 100% employee paid.
Life and Disability Insurances
KTA provides Reliance, life, accidental death, and long and short-term disability insurance to all employees after they have completed 60 days of full-time service. Employees are automatically enrolled in these programs. KTA pays 100% of the total premium. The value of the life insurance policy is two times your base annual salary. Coverage is available for employees only.
Supplemental Life Insurance
KTA offers Reliance supplemental group life insurance to employees and their families. The employee is responsible for the entire cost of this benefit. The rates for this benefit vary based on age and amount of coverage. New employees are eligible for up to $150,000 of guaranteed issue life insurance, 20,000 for spouses, and $10,000 for eligible children.
KTA offers Aflac Accident insurance to employees and their families. Accident insurance provides benefits for a wide range of covered injuries and accident-related expenses beyond health insurance. These may include emergency room visits, hospitalization, physical therapy, hospital intensive care, transportation, lodging, and more.
Critical Illness Insurance
KTA offers Aflac Critical Illness insurance to employees and their families. This insurance pays a benefit directly to you if you are diagnosed with a covered condition. These may include heart attack, stroke, or cancer.
Hospital Indemnity Insurance
KTA offers Aflac Hospital Indemnity insurance to employees. This insurance pays a cash benefit upon hospital admission and for each day you have to be hospitalized. It is meant to help you cover your deductible and other expenses.
Supplemental Short Term Disability Insurance
KTA offers Aflac Individual Short Term Disability insurance to employees. Open enrollment is offered annually. This insurance pays the employee a percentage of gross monthly salary should they become ill or injured due to a covered disability. Employees can choose monthly benefit amounts from $200 to 75% of their current income (up to a maximum of $5,000). These benefits are flexible but some state restrictions do apply.
KTA offers Nationwide (Formerly VPI) Pet Insurance. Several options are available based on coverage needs, age, and type of pet and breed.
Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
This benefit allows employees to contribute a set amount from their paychecks in order to cover dependent care expenses and/or out-of-pocket medical, dental, and vision expenses such as health insurance and prescription copays. The funds are deducted through regular, equal payroll deductions and money is deposited into a flexible savings/spending account that is exempt from federal, state, and payroll taxes. This money must be used in a defined period of time.
401(k) Investment Program
The company has an established 401(k) profit-sharing program to assist in our employees’ retirement savings. Employees will be automatically enrolled in the program on the first pay of the new quarter (on or about 1/1, 4/1,7/1, 10/1). Employees can invest up to the federal limit ($17,500 in 2016 with catch-up contributions for age 55+) of their base pay into the program each year. KTA matches 50% of the contribution up to 3% and encourages all employees to invest at least 6% to receive the full 3% match. A wide portfolio of investment options are made available through our plan advisor, PNC.
Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP)
KTA is 100% Employee Owned! All employees who work 1,000 hours or more each year, have worked a full calendar year and are active on December 31st of each year will be automatically enrolled in the program. Allocations are made annually based on eligibility and base salary. The ESOP is a qualified retirement program. Employee ownership is the best benefit KTA has ever been able to offer its employees. Paid Time Off (PTO)
The company provides an accrual system for paid time off (vacation, sick, and personal time combined). New employees are eligible to use PTO days after completing six months or 960 hours of continuous service. As a new full-time/seasonal employee, you are eligible for up to 12 PTO days in your first year. The benefit increases every year until it maximizes at 26 days after 15 calendar years of full employment.
Full-time employees are eligible for time off, with pay, on the following scheduled holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday following Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Years of Service and Employee Recognition
After completing 5 and 10 years of full-time service, KTA pays more towards employee health insurance benefits. After 10 years of full-time service, employees are given the option of free dental or vision premiums. In addition, employees are provided awards after completing 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service with the company. All employees with 5 or more years of service are recognized on plaques in the entrance of the Corporate Office in Pittsburgh, PA.
KTA has an established Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) that meets regularly to review internal and external nominations for exceeding customer satisfaction and going above and beyond the call of duty (ABCD). Awards are presented at specific milestones based on approved nominations, monthly $100 and annual grand prize drawings are held, and employees are recognized in the company newsletter, The Inside Edition.
Employee Assistance Program
KTA’s EAP is a confidential, worksite-based program designed to assist both employees and employers to provide assessment and referral for personal and professional problems. The programs offered includes counseling and education for a variety of issues including but not limited to marital and family issues, stress, crisis, alcohol and drug problems, smoking cessation, child care need options, eldercare referrals, financial planning, money management, and pet care referrals.
Tuition Reimbursement, Training and Development
KTA invests in its employees. The company offers tuition reimbursement for all full-time employees after completion of 12 months of service. In addition to annual refresher training, KTA pays for industry certification renewals and training and development of all eligible staff. Policy restrictions apply.
